Hi All: We made it to Anchorage about 2 hours ago. When we left Denali the sun was trying to come out and it was NOT raining. We got about 20 miles out of Denali and the rain started and it rained almost all the way to Anchorage, and it is still raining now. We had to unhook the car and dolly and back in to a space. We are at the "Shipcreek Campground". Amy took me up to Shipcreek without a paddle???? Bad huh??? They are having some kind of thing in town here about 15 minutes walk from the campground tomorrow that we plan on going to. Guy at the office said it is better to walk down there than to drive as they charge to much to park there, and we do need to walk, UNLESS it is raining again, then we will drive and Amy can pay the big bucks to park. Bear above is about the only wild thing along the road we saw. Except a nice big moose along the road eating, but Amy didn't have her camera ready and missed him. Have not seen near as many animals on this trip as we did with Bob and Dorene. To many vehicles on the road I think. If I ever came back here again it would be early like we did in 2008 before all these PEOPLE got on the highway....

Finally got out of the rain clouds and could see some of the mountains on the way down from Denali. We have ice/snow covered mountains down this way. We drove 250 miles south and it got colder than it was in Denali the farther South we went. Had the heater on all day with Amy holding her feet to the vents...

Another shot of the mountains finally showing up thru the clouds. We read in the Mile Post that there was beautiful mountains on the right and left, but we could see nothing... Just rain.

This is what it looked like most of the way down here. Hid the mountains all the way down, and now that we are in Anchorage it is still foggy and rainy. Office guy said it was supposed to be like this for the next 9 days?? Oh well, we can survive.....

We didn't stop here this time, but we did last time before we ever heard of this town. Wasilla should be the capital rather than Juneau as you can get to Wasilla and you cannot drive to the capital at all. Have to take a boat to get there.

This is on the bank of the NENANA river that they had the white water rafts in Denali. I had thought of taking a dip, but changed my mind. They take raft trips on the NENANA TO THE TANANA river. Harry, that's another book....
Good WiFi here, but no cable TV. Do have several TV stations on the Antenna though. Saturday is kind bad for TV on regular channels....
Semper Fi.
