Hi All: Finally got the Internet to accept my photo's. It does take a long time to download them though, but I have no place to go now.

We left Beaver Creek this morning and got here to Delta Junction about 1330. It was about 285 miles. Road was real bad at first, even after we got in to Alaska about 30 miles up the road from the campground. Lots of frost heaves, pot holes, and construction work. Finally go on to some good roads in to Alaska. Stopped at a couple places along the way. One of them I'm sure Bob and Dorene remember. (Photo Above). They have all kinds of meat products from Beef, Pork, Elk, Yak, Bison and reindeer. We bought some Elk Slim Jim's, and a package of Elk sausage for breakfast. Link style. Also got some of their great Mustard sauce and a Bar-B-Q sauce....

The dumbie above is all over the place. this one is a little off the road, but a lot of them think they can stay in the middle of the highway, or just ride on the white line while two big RV's are passing each other. They all must have a death wish. Especially know they cannot peddle faster than a Grizzly Bear can run. Have not seen to many beat up bikes along the road. Probably dragged back in the woods.

Now this is the way to travel up here??? Of course we need NO Air Conditioning, and I'm sure this rig has none. He was coming towards us, so he must be on his way home.. Not sure what kind of car or year it is. Any one know??

Above is some of the beautiful sights we see from our windows along the way. Bob used to say, It is like looking at a post card no matter where you look up here.. Roads were real bad like they were in 2008 coming in to Alaska. And the road to Chicken is still closed due to washed out roads. Harry said that "The Road To Chicken" sounded like a good book title. Guess it does. Write if for us Harry.....

Now I told her not to get to close to the wolves when you smell like a cat!!! She never does listen to me.
We will be here in Delta Junction over night and leave for the "North Pole" about 85 miles North of us, Then on in to Fairbanks another 15 miles to our campground "Riverview" It's the same one we stayed at with Bob and Dorene. Kinda liked it before so we are going back. Staying 5 nights there. Amy is setting up a entertainment program for us while there. Think a ride on a river boat is one, maybe another ride on a train to a gold mine to pan for gold, and maybe a riding tour of Fairbanks? Also thinking of a place called Pioneer Park in Fairbanks. Might be doing more than we have time for. But, last time we were there we had to extend our stay there to do things. Also need to wash the car and motor home while there. They do have a place to take the rigs and wash them without using "Loonies" Just elbow grease....
Well, that's about all for now. Will try to send out a blog each day while in Alaska. Lots to do. Hope the rivers clear up from all the rain. They are rivers of mud now. Not good for fishing. Do want to do some fishing. The next campground is on a river and I can fish from the bank there. I need to get some use out of my year long fishing license I bought on line before we left Florida. Wish me luck...

  1. Great pics Don. Have fun fishing, I haven't been fishing in over 13 years, don't know if I remember how to tie a hook on or not. I used to go fishing a lot.....need to start back, I love it !

  2. hail the lonely bicyclist!

no man is braver (or more foolish, some say!) than one who takes to the highways via two wheels, powered by pedals only.

explorers, compared to the likes of magellan or columbus, bent on conquering and over-coming unknown forces of the world (in this small case, gravity), should be admired for their courage and ambition, and not run off the road in any sort of cavalier fashion.

i know for a fact how adventuresome biking can be, and also how cruel and down-right murderous some drivers of cars, as well as semi-trucks, might act toward the indefensible bike.
