Hi All: Didn't do a Blog yesterday. Not much to report. We did go tot he Farmers Market in the rain, as it rained almost all day. We did buy some veggies there. Got One stalk of Rhubarb for me. .50.. 2 tomatoes for $3.00, a small basket of Juliet Tomatoes he called "Small Roma's" 2 bunches of large radishes for $5, and one cucumber for $1. Stuff is kind expensive here, But those farmers have to make all they can in the short growing season they have. They have to grow tomatoes in green houses as it is to cold for tomatoes, but cold crop stuff like cabbage, lettuce etc does super in the 21 hour daylight days.

That evening we went to the "Turtle Club" where Bob and Dorene took us on our anniversary in 2008. It was exactly as remembered, AND the food was just as good. Amy had Prime Rib, which we have enough left for maybe two more meals. I had their "Halibut Chunks" Deep fried. they were excellent. Just as good as Cod, or Red Fish. Now I have to catch a couple Halibut to bring some of that stuff home....When we had it before we thought it was a little fishy tasting, but what I've had this time a couple times has been just outstanding....Bob, Remember the sign above????

Having my salad from the very nice salad bar at the Turtle Club. All was so good there. I was a little against going as it was raining and miserable, but Amy beat me and kicked me out of the Motor Home to the car. Glad she did..

A shot of the Valley of Fairbanks as we are on our way to the Denali Park area. We got up in to the clouds in the mountains leaving Fairbanks. Road was pretty good. Had some construction of course, No gravel, and I was glad as I didn't put the cover on the Saturn.

The 18 wheelers are a little different up here. Count the wheels, and this is not one of the big ones with MORE wheels....

Bob and Dorene may recognize this sign. It's where we stayed with them up here. Place has not changed at all, but we don't have the little old guy living in the back of his pick up truck with the wood burning stove in it selling his awful carvings etc. It's a lot cooler here than Fairbanks, and a lot more wind today. Did go out and find the ice cream store we found before. It was good again.

Motor Home parked at the Rainbow campground. Same tough gas station I have to use to get gas on our way out is still here. Steep ramp in and out of it. Will use it when we leave day after tomorrow. We will go to Denali Park tomorrow. Not sure what we will do. We took the bus ride thru the park last time, and doubt we will do it again. Lots and Lots of Tour buses around with Thousands of People. I hate people.....
Harry... I saw your Road to Chicken on Facebook. Super job. They have opened up that road I hear for people to get in and out of Chicken again.....Way to go.
Well, I guess I brought it all up to date for now.

P.S. Have Cable TV and WiFi here. All is good...

  1. thanks, pal. a few of us on facebook have this loose-knit group of writers who accept weekly assignments where we have to use a certain phrase or particular word in each story, so "on the road to chicken" was not only tackled by three others this week, but one was so inspired that he went on to write 3 completely different versions.

so keep the cool phrases coming!
