Hi All: Still in Florida, but getting things ready for a 23 May departure yet.
Dave and I got the tires on the Motor Home rotated the other day, and I changed the brake pads. Think it is pretty much ready to hit the road. Moved it up close to the house so Amy can start loading the tons of stuff she seems to be able to find to take on these trips. Most of it is essential, but some of it never gets used. I'm that way too, so glad we have some extra room. However, we don't have a lot of extra weight to add to the Motor Home. It can only stand so much.
Amy is now washing and polishing the cars getting ready. Was hoping she would just keep going and polish the Motor Home, but I suspect that is one job she will leave for me???
As I said, we plan to leave here on 23 May and spend two days at a campground in North Florida, trying to get used to being in the rig again. Then one more day in Virginia some where, then on in to Delaware to visit Tom and Judy Shelar. (Amy's Brother). Will be there for a few days then on to New Castle, PA for about 2 or 3 weeks I think visiting some relatives there. Then on to Toledo to visit Fred Shelar (Amy's other Brother) for a couple days. That's about as far as we have planned as of now. The rest of the trip will probably be planned day by day. Like it that way.
Have my garden all planted, but doubt I will be able to eat any of it. Only planted 88 tomato plants this year. Brenda will have a ball canning while we are on the road. Peach trees are full, and Pear Tree looks like a vanilla Ice Cream cone it's so full of blossoms. Brenda says she'll try to put some in the freezer for me, or can them, or what ever. hee hee.
Got Amy a new lap top so she can stay in touch on the trip. I plan to replace my slow out of date lap top also.
Well, Enough for today. You all keep in touch.

ReplyDeletei like your itinerary...one day at a time. a few years back, we used to drive down to southern ill annoy to visit alicia's kin -- a normal 6-hour and boring drive. we knew the route by heart and i soon learned to dread the trip.
but late one summer, we decided to go exploring along the way back home, and totally deviated from our customary route. we zig-zagged up the bottom half of the state and had a blast in doing so.
one place we stopped was some obscure ruins of a government fort. there we met two fellows who were driving a dilapidated pickup truck, and who told us of a cave not too far away. intrigued but confused as to directions, they volunteered to take us there, so we agreed to follow behind, all the time watching rakes and hoes and other assorted tools rattling around in the bed of their truck.
that was a trip to remember...alicia started worrying they might be serial killers and here we were out in the middle of nowhere -- who would know our fate? the kids got all excited at the thought.
but finally we arrived and they drove off, waving. we had fun in the cave for awhile, and have been telling the story abt that trip ever since.
so keep it loose! and keep us updated with lots of cool stories as well as pictures.
